Beyond Limits
The Beyond Limits Class was formed in January 2023 when the staff at Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, was made aware of a need for several individuals in the congregation.
The class was named Beyond Limits because it focuses on their particular students' abilities instead of any disabilities. "Different, not deficient" is the motto, appropriately recognizing the members as unique and talented. The environment focuses on making each member feel loved and appreciated.
The weekly structure usually includes a short Bible lesson, a weekly memory verse, and a fun activity or craft. Group time begins with a warm welcome, prayers for friends and family, offerings in their special handmade offering jars, and the opportunity for participants to share stories of their previous week. Their laughter and conversation are often heard way down the hall as they excitedly share.
The primary purpose of the class is always to teach that Jesus loves everyone and was willing to die on the cross to make the way for redemption and the promise of a perfect eternity for anyone who trusts in him.
Looking forward, the leadership sees many opportunities to get the class more involved in church activities, such as working as greeters and kitchen helpers, showing the entire congregation how these members can serve alongside all the others in traditional but modified roles.
Beyond Limits also meets on Wednesday nights for fun and service activities. A few months ago, members painted the walls of their classroom with beautiful crosses. They occasionally meet outside the church or activities such as bowling and cooking get-togethers.
God is in the midst of things, great and small, and the leaders feel blessed to be a part of the great Beyond Limits Class. Anyone is welcome to stop by, say hi, and get involved for a genuine and hardy dose of blessing.
