Thanksgiving for what? As we give thanks this week, we certainly have many things and people to be thankful for. But the one thing you are to be most thankful for is that you are no longer a slave to sin if you are one who has put your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. That is, you believe He died for your sins, rose from the dead, rules eternally now, and you have accepted His rule in your life.
Has anyone noticed how broken this world is? You do not have to look far to see it. In war thousands die and hundreds of thousands suffer. Even our politicians who rarely point to God for help, call this evil. Evil! That word must acknowledge that something holy exists too.
If Jesus stood in front of you right now and said, “I’m not going to answer all your questions now, but until then I want you to trust Me and obey Me,” would you then believe and follow Him?
Habits and hang-ups are so hard to break. They destroy our relationships, bodies, and minds. We have a propensity to destructive acts. This propensity is called sin. The doctrine of sin is the one doctrine that is empirically verifiable. But what does that mean?
