Are You Hungry and Thirsty?

Are You Hungry and Thirsty?

Is your soul in starvation mode? Is your spiritual gut growling? The apostle John recorded Jesus’ words this way: “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again” (John 6:35 CSB). Of course, Jesus is not talking about whole wheat bread and bottled water. He is talking about Himself. He is the satisfaction for a hungry soul that has tried everything.

If you were never hungry, then you would never go to the grocery store. But hunger drives you. If you deny your spiritual hunger, then you will not seek Jesus. But if that hunger and thirst gnaws at your heart, then you must discover that only Jesus can fill that void.

Food and water satisfy for a little while. But Jesus said you will never be hungry or thirst again if you come to Him. That’s amazing! Someone said that for a person to know something is inevitable and not prepare for it, then that person is a fool. Death is inevitable. Everyone will stand before King Jesus, everyone. Would you like the assurance you will be safe, forgiven, and accepted on that day?

Gospel means good news. The good news is God created you to be with Him forever. The bad news is we all have sinned and separated ourselves from Him. But Jesus Christ came and died in our place for our sins and rose from the dead. You must receive the good news of Jesus by personally accepting what Jesus did. Your decision to come to Jesus has eternal consequences of heaven and hell. By coming to Jesus, your life can be transformed here and now to purposeful living for Him.

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9 CSB).
