Apparent Contradictions

Apparent Contradictions

Some people refuse to believe the Bible because of apparent contradictions. Because they cannot reconcile what seem to be unresolvable discrepancies in Scripture, they therefore reject Jesus Christ as their Savior.

For example, how can Jesus be both a humble, suffering servant and a conquering, victorious King at the same time? Prophecies point to the Messiah fulfilling both of these roles. But how is that possible?

The Jewish religious leaders in the first century and still Jews today, are looking for a Messiah that is a conquering lion. But Jesus came as a normal looking human being from an unimportant village called Nazareth.

This discrepancy is resolved when you understand the two comings of Jesus. In his first coming about 2000 years ago, he came as a suffering servant who died for our sins and rose from the dead. He is coming a second time soon as a Conqueror on a white horse.

Jesus came the first time to save us from our sins. He provided a way for us to come into relationship with the Father simply by faith in what he has done for us. But he is coming a second time as a Judge of those who do not believe in him.

So we are living in a day of grace and mercy. All who will believe upon Jesus will be saved. The apostle John tells us, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:17 CSB)

I'm getting ready to retire at the end of this year. I did not start saving money for retirement last week, but 40 years ago as a young minister in my first paid position. You cannot wait until after you take your last breath to believe in Jesus. You must invest in Jesus Christ today. That investment is an act of faith in Him, a confession with your mouth, and obeying him in baptism.

Will you put your faith in apparent contradictions or will you put your faith in the truth of the living God sending his Son Jesus to be your Savior. For by grace are you saved through faith, it is not of yourselves, it is not of works. Please trust Jesus today. Because after you take your last breath you will instantly know; it's. too. late.
