Bible Study gives everyone a small group opportunity to accomplish the primary focuses of the church: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism. For those who would add prayer as a sixth purpose, it can help accomplish that, too. Sunday Bible Studies become the small “villages” deeply caring and supporting their members through life. Other study opportunities, throughout the week, then help to further develop the member into God’s plan for them as Disciples of Christ.
Balboa Baptist has an abundance of opportunities to study God’s Word from Sunday morning Bible classes and weekly study groups. Please feel free to browse through the classes here or visit any of our Sunday morning classes between services as our guest!

While adults are in their own Sunday morning bible study classes, Balboa Baptist Church makes available faith based child care educational classes in three levels. Room 102 This level is designed for newborns up to three years old. Bible stories are told as well as singing and playing. We seek to share the love of Jesus using the curriculum “Simply Loved” and also have resources for parents. Rooms 103-105 This kids’ class uses Groups’s Simply Loved materials. The kids have responded well to this program. We have the story on a DVD and many activities that pertain to each lesson. Our goal is for kids to know and understand who Jesus is. We seek to lead kids to build a lifelong relationship with the Lord. Rooms 107-109 We love students and seek to lead them to a greater understanding of the Lord. We currently use “Grounded” on Sunday mornings. This curriculum allows us to disciple students using the Bible and real life application. Our leaders are role models who seek to build strong relationships with students and their families. Young people have inquisitive minds looking for answers to the problems they face today. We welcome the opportunity to meet and encourage any young person who is seeking answers to life's questions. Grow Deeper Wednesday classes take place every Wednesday at 6:00pm. The current classes will run from April 27, 2022 to May 25, 2022. Dinner is provided prior to class @ 5:00pm at a cost $5.00 per person. Students and children eat free. Class sizes are limited, please register EARLY!
Led By: Mike & Colleen Patania Many people are familiar with Psalm 23. But because we all know it, we often breeze through the psalm without slowing down long enough to rest in the assurance it offers. In this 6-part series on Psalm 23, pastor Matt Chandler introduces us to the great shepherd, the Lord, who promises to provide for every need of his flock. Though only six verses long, this psalm teaches us profound truths about our loving and protective God. By studying Psalm 23, we’ll encounter a life-transforming question: Do you trust the Lord to care for your needs? Led By: Pastor Kevin Bright Some names live in infamy, and some names inspire the greatest kinds of hope. But there is one name above all other names, and it belongs to the Son of God, Jesus. Jesus is the most unique person who’s ever lived, and his names carry with them great weight. In this series, Dr. Tony Evans journeys around the stomping grounds of Jesus in the land of Israel and presents a complete picture of the Incarnate God. By teaching on each of the major names of Jesus, Tony brings us face-to-face with the Second Person of the Trinity. Shot in the major locations where Jesus himself lived and taught, we find ourselves asking one question: “What will we do with Jesus?”
Led By: Vanessa Downing Columbine High School student Rachel Joy Scott grew up knowing the love of God but wasn't always ready to receive it. At times her faith is strong, but at other times, she finds that it's at odds with her daily life. After a difficult breakup with her non-believing boyfriend, Rachel finds inspiration from a formerly homeless teen, and her renewed commitment to Christ plays out powerfully at her high school and around the world. Based on a true story.
